I grew up in South East Cornwall and always had a keen interest in local history and cultural heritage. After living and working in London for ten years I returned to Cornwall and became interested in building conservation and the use of lime. I was fortunate enough to be offered a training bursary through the Traditional Skills Bursary Scheme with Adam Weismann and Katy Bryce at Clayworks (formerly Cob In Cornwall). During my apprenticeship in Earth Building I worked on a range of new build and restoration projects.
I strongly believe in the benefits of using lime. I offer rendering, plastering and repointing using traditional lime based materials. The products I use are breathable and flexible and will help you bring out the best in your period property.
"Andy Carne's work is first-class. We were delighted with the outcome of the lime rendering. He has enhanced the natural shape of the cob walls and the texture of the finish is superb, reviving the exterior. Many neighbours have commented on the fine work and also Andy's knowledge and courteous nature. We have no hesitation in recommending Andy".

“One day we saw Andy working on a wall in St Germans – his work was excellent and we knew he was the one to sensitively restore our home, parts of which are over 400 years old. Since then Andy has repointed the entire outside of our house, lime rendered our workshop and replaced previous internal pointing done by another firm. The character of our home is now properly restored due to Andy’s care, skill and expertise”.
